What are the basic qualifications to work as a Delivery Associate (DA)?Please visit our Careers page where you will find a detailed list of qualifications and requirements.
-
What qualities do you look for in a Delivery Associate (DA)?The role of a DA can be very tough and not everyone is cut out for it. The job is ideal for someone who: Likes to be challenged on a daily basis Is accustomed to working outside in all kinds of weather Likes working independently most of the day, while interfacing with customers as needed Is able to reliably show up and be on time for all shifts Wants to stay physically active Is consistently safety-focused no matter the circumstances
-
Will I have to work in inclement weather?Yes - we deliver packages 361 days a year, even when it is raining or snowing outside. On rare occasions we may need to suspend or cancel delivery operations due to severe weather and these instances are communicated to our employees as early as possible.
-
What is included in the pre-employment drug test?It depends on what kind of vehicle you are driving. Currently, all of our Delivery Associates (DA) drive vehicles which are not regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). These vehicles include cargo vans and custom delivery vehicles (CDVs). For these types of vehicles the pre-employment drug screen is a standard four-panel test. A standard four-panel test includes Opioids, Phencyclidine (PCP), Cocaine, and Amphetamines. Alcohol testing is not required during the onboarding process. It is possible that in the future our company will begin delivering packages using larger vehicles which are regulated by the DOT. Drivers who wish to drive these vehicles will be required to pass a five-panel drug test, which will include screening for THC, Opioids, Phencyclidine (PCP), Cocaine, and Amphetamines. Our company does not currently utilize any of these vehicles yet, and therefore five-panel drug tests are not used for pre-employment purposes.
-
Do I need to have commercial driving experience?Commercial driving experience is preferred but absolutely not required. We provide initial and ongoing training to ensure that all Delivery Associates are fully-equipped to operate their delivery vehicles and perform the requirements of the position in a consistently safe and efficient manner.
-
Do I need a CDL to be a delivery driver for Lightfoot Logistics? No. A CDL or other special driver’s license is not required.
-
Will I deliver to the same locations each time I work? No. While we do our best to develop driver knowledge and affinity for delivery routes, it is not guaranteed that you will deliver to the same locations each time you work. Your route can change from one day to the next.
-
Will I have to work weekends and holidays?Yes. We deliver packages 361 days a year, to include weekends and most holidays (with the exception of New Year's Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day). Your individual schedule will be dependent upon many factors, but as a rule we generally require all Delivery Associates be available at least either Saturday or Sunday.
-
Are you closed for operation on recognized holidays? We are closed for operation on New Year's Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas. We operate every other day of the year.
-
Where will I report to work? You will report to work at an Amazon delivery station located in Morrisville, NC. The station address is 1200 Innovation Avenue, Morrisville 27560.
-
What does "DA" stand for?Great question! "DA" stands for "Delivery Associate" -- our awesome team of professional drivers!
-
Will I be able to take breaks while I'm out delivering?Yes! Our Delivery Associates (DAs) must take three (3) mandatory breaks during their route. These three (3) breaks consist of one unpaid 30-minute lunch break and two (2) paid fifteen-minute rest breaks. Please note that these breaks cannot be consolidated and taken all at one time, they must be spaced out over the course of the route.
-
How long will my delivery shift be and what will it include?A standard shift is typically 10.5 hours long. This includes 1) Pre-dispatch activities, 2) On Road activities, and 3) Return to Station (RTS) activities, described briefly below: Pre-dispatch activities typically include reporting to the delivery station on time, morning stand-up meeting announcements, vehicle inspections, loading your delivery vehicle full of packages, and dispatching from the station. On Road activities will be the majority of your day - you'll be out delivering smiles to your neighbors and local community members! During this time you must take three (3) mandatory breaks (one for lunch and two rest breaks). Return to Station (RTS) activities typically include refueling your delivery vehicle, returning to the station to debrief your route, and a post-route vehicle inspection.
